Hi everyone! I would like to share about some sweets that I tried yesterday…

They are bean jelly sweets.　In Japan, we also have very similar sweets called “Yokan.” They are made from red bean paste, kanten (agar), and sugar.

I bought 3 different flavors of Yokan.

I think this one is chestnut flavor. hehe

I also liked this package since it has a logo of Shenyang!

From the bottom left to right in the picture below, they are peach flavor, chestnut flavor, and strawberry flavor.

I tried cutting it in half to check if there was any filling of these flavors. hehe

I liked the peach flavor the most since I could taste the peach. 🍑But the rest of them didn’t really taste like chestnut or strawberry… These were very light flavors and I could taste a little chunkiness with the red bean skins.

I think it might be a good and fun souvenir to enjoy and compare how similar these are to Japanese Yokan, yet still quite different. I saw that there are more different flavors at the store, so I will try these again! I will write about the different kinds of Chinese sweets once I have a chance to try them again!

Today was 4 degrees Celsius in Shenyang. It was very nice weather!
