I would like to share a short writing that I found in my daughter’s backpack a few days ago. When I asked her what was the occasion for writing it, She said “Yeah! I wrote this during class.” I asked her if I could post it on my blog she said ok! So here we go 🙂
Here is her writing:
Title: What is your favorite season?
“I think most pepol like winter but I like spring the best. Spring has the best food like wagashy. Wagash is sweet, mushy and some tims evin sow and dango is a nuthr tip of candy and it is also cinda hard.

I think I kind of understand what she meant by sour and but sweet, I guess she might be talking about Mitarashi dango, which are Japanese rice dumplings skewer coated in sweet soy glaze. ![]()
This is dango that I made before dipping sweet and sour sauce to make Mitarashi Dango.

I felt aww when I thought that my children have been immersing themself in Japan’s scenery and flavors through Wagashi. ![]()

My children love cookies too haha!

The cookies in the picture above are Halloween cookies that we made. 👆
My daughters love cookies so much but they also love Wagashi, too![]()

My daughters know Anko is made from red beans.![]()
![]()

This is when my daughter asked me that she wants to try wrapping the Anko with mochi!![]()
It is really hard to for my children to have the same level of experience as children who live in Japan, such as learning Japanese, experience Japan’s beautiful scenery, and taste delicious Japanese flavors. But her essay made me realize that Wagashi is in my daughter’s heart.

I was simply so happy to know that ![]()

I want to continue learning about Wagashi and I want to make a variety of traditional sweets and enjoy them with my family. ![]()

Always a picture time in front of Sakura!
