Chinese Tea for the First Time

Last week I went to a Chinese tea cafe that my friend invited me to. Look at this entrance! I can already sense the nice atmosphere!

My friend researched and booked a reservation at this cafe for us. My part was to enjoy the tea! So thankful!

I loved this garden. When I entered this garden, it felt like so nostalgic but also a bit new. It was a very calming and relaxing place.

We enjoyed two different kinds of tea.

From the top in the picture above: 暮云(Twilling Cloud: black tea) and 牡丹茶(Camilia tea: white tea). We got a nuts and fruits set.

This was my first experience seeing a Chinese tea ceremony.

I’m sure there are steps and ways to make the tea for this, but it was interesting to see how the tea was served. ラブ I was hoping to keep up with the staff’s movements and see how she made the tea, but I couldn’t.

The place was so comfortable and relaxing. Since the staff took care of our tea, we could focus on enjoying the tea and chatting. hehe

We asked the staff on what occasions they have this kind of tea, and she replied there is no rule, you can always enjoy the tea with your friends and families whenever you feel like it. (We communicated with a translation app!) I was a little bit nervous about having Chinese tea because I thought there was some kind of rule on how to drink the tea, but there wasn’t! The most important thing is to just enjoy the tea and the company!

暮云(Twilling Cloud: black tea)

牡丹茶(Camilia tea: white tea).

This one first tasted like a dried prune but later tasted like brown sugar after chewing it many times.

The nuts had some salt so it went well with the flavor of the tea. The outside was very fluffy like a pie crust, and the filling was very light sweet red bean paste.

The cookies on the wooden tray in the picture below tasted like Okinawan cookies called “Chinsuko.”

The whole experience was so fun and interesting. I want to learn about Chinese tea.

When we were taking pictures of the beautiful garden, one of the staff told us that we could also take this picture. 👆It has 4 different Chinese characters that say “出門見喜(Chu men jian xi).”

“出門 (Chu men)” means to leave the gate and “見喜 (jian xi)” literally means “going to meet luck or joy.” “見喜 (jian xi)” can also mean lucky omen. What a good word that I could learn before we left the cafe. I felt so grateful for the time there and enjoyed everything.

Here is the Chinese tea place we went to:

I hope everyone has a good weekend. ☆彡
